Título
Multidisciplinary TeleRounds in Brazilian Public Adult Intensive Care Units - eHealth Use in Disseminating Quality Care (TeleICU)
Objetivo
The TeleICU project aims to provide remote support to the multidisciplinary teams caring for patients in adult Intensive Care Units (ICUs) within the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Through telemedicine, the project seeks to improve clinical management and patient care while reducing risks in the treatment of critically ill patients. The project offers educational and technical support from the team at Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz, with the goal of enhancing care processes, clinical outcomes, and bed management through horizontal patient monitoring. This approach includes daily multidisciplinary teleconsultations with specialists in cardiology, neurology, pulmonology, and infectious diseases, according to demand.
Métodos
This is a multicenter, retrospective study conducted from May/22 to May/23, using the secondary database of teleconsultations performed by the multidisciplinary team at Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz.
Resultados
In the analyzed period, 21 adult ICUs from the Northeast, Midwest, and Southeast regions of Brazil were included, with 2,505 synchronous rounds and 11,113 case discussions, benefiting a total of 2,078 patients through this strategy.
Conclusão
The project has shown an impact on the quality of care in participating ICUs, particularly those without specialists, leading to safer and earlier patient discharges, and increased patient and family satisfaction. Sponsorship: Unified Health System Institutional Development Support Program (PROADI-SUS).
